Liturgical Dance
Rehearsals: as announced, normally two one and one-half hour rehearsals
for each dance. The Liturgical Dance group dances 4-5 times a year at
major Sundays/Festivals.
Open
to Middle High Girls through adult women (no upper age limit). Previous
dance experience is not a requirement to participate.
Assisting Cantors are always welcome
and assist the Director of Music in singing the psalm verses and other parts of
the liturgy at the Sunday Eucharist.
Instrumentalists are invited to play
preludes and offertories throughout the year, not just during the summer.
Many of the choir anthems have parts for brass, woodwinds, strings, and
percussion.
Matins
(Morning
Prayer) will be prayed Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Nave, and lasts about
25 minutes. We invite you to join us!
The first Christians continued the
Jewish practice of corporate prayer at certain times of the day (Acts 3:1,
10:9), principally morning and evening. Matins (or Morning Prayer) is one of the
historic prayer services that has been prayed with greater or lesser regularity
by Christians for centuries. Today, when we participate in this liturgy, we are
joining countless other Christians around the world who are praying this same
service (many of them every day).
Our full worship schedule appears at
the top of this page.
