That’s what Bishop Mark Hanson is asking us to do. The Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is calling on all members of the ELCA to pray for the ELCA in the fifty days (June 29-August 17) leading up to our Churchwide Assembly in Minneapolis (August 17-23). Of course we already regularly pray for the Church (both the ELCA and the larger Church catholic) and her leaders, but we do well to heed the Presiding Bishop’s call. Toward that end, the "Prayers of the week" which we invite all our members to pray every morning, will be specifically focused on interceding for the Church.

May God stir up his Holy Spirit in the ELCA, that we might be faithful stewards of the Gospel and of the faith which has been handed down to us from the apostles.
