Music
at Gloria Dei
 |
The
music program at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is an integral part of the worship
life of the parish. It seeks to express God’s love and glory and enhance our
liturgies through inspiring and artistic expressions of our faith and
praise. |
|
In keeping with the rich heritage of the Lutheran Church and establishing a
tradition of excellence while recognizing the interdependence of spiritual and
musical growth, the music program seeks to offer learning opportunities for
all of its members. It also hopes to make a special contribution to the
cultural life of the greater Wichita community and, in doing so, strives to
enrich the lives of those it touches and to gather into the assembly those who
believe in and work to advance the message of God’s love. There is a place
in the Gloria Dei music program for anyone who wishes to learn, grow, serve
and praise God in song. Come and join us as we make a joyful noise to the
Lord.

vocal choirs. Music reading is helpful but not required. A
commitment to attendance is needed. |

CANTOREI (ASSISTING CANTOR’S GUILD)
High School-Adult
The Cantorei is open to those high school age through adult. Music is sent
in advance and Cantorei members are responsible for learning the music on
their own. A brief rehearsal is held before any given liturgy. Our assisting
cantors lead the psalm and propers at every Eucharist. Experienced cantors
new to the parish are invited to become a part of the Cantorei.
Less-experienced individuals with a desire to lead our sung prayer are
invited to contact the Cantor to develop their skills as a part of this
vital ministry. Music reading and a pleasant singing voice are essential.
The ability to sing comfortably for large groups (without amplification) and
a meeting with the music director are required.
